About GlobalBlock

GlobalBlock Digital Asset Trading Limited is a publicly trading holding company whose common shares trade on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol “BLOK”. GlobalBlock Digital Asset Trading Limited through its UK operating subsidiary, GlobalBlock Ltd (GlobalBlock), provides individuals, professionals and institutions with the technology and service to confidently access digital assets. GlobalBlock was established by experienced City of London brokers and entrepreneurs to provide a service led alternative to the high volume, low touch exchange model dominant in the UK and beyond. GlobalBlock Ltd is based in London UK and has been temporarily registered under the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 as a crypto-asset business until 31st March 2022, pending the determination of our application by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Rufus Round - CEO GlobalBlock Digital Asset Trading Limited:

Mr. Round has acted as CEO of Global Block Digital Asset Trading (formerly Helix Applications Inc.) since October 2019. Formerly an investment manager with over twenty years of experience in multi-asset investments, Mr. Round recently managed funds at an award-winning London-based hedge fund, Cheyne Capital. Prior to that, he was a partner at niche arbitrage specialist Boston & Alexander, also based in London. He has specialised in convertible bonds, fixed income, credit, equities and their derivatives throughout his career. This has led to an early and natural interest in digital assets and their underlying technologies.

 

Mr. Round will support the management team in the direction of the business, liaising with shareholders, regulators and reporting entities, ensuring the business is well capitalized. He will promote the company across relevant markets, identifying opportunities for growth in tandem with the management team.

David Thomas - COO, GlobalBlock Digital Asset Trading Limited:

David started at a fledgling Commercial Foreign Exchange provider in 2003 which went on to become one of the UK’s largest non-bank foreign exchange providers. David became one of the company’s partners in 2008 before it was eventually sold to private equity in 2015. Mr. Thomas is responsible for the day to day running of the business, along with strategic decisions and continual evolvement and advancement of overall infrastructure.  Previous experience in corporate and retail broking space has also been utilized to build out sales process and approach to market. David's role will be to continue to manage and improve the daily operations of the business to incorporate the anticipated growth. 

Amaan Jalwa – Chief Financial Officer of GlobalBlock Digital Asset Trading Limited:

Mr. Jalwa is a qualified Chartered Accountant having trained at KPMG in London. Amaan was most recently interim-CFO of digital asset liquidity technology platform Enigma Securities, a firm backed by British billionaire investor Alan Howard, prior to which he was the Finance Director of Outlier Ventures, the tech VC firm focused on blockchain, AI and Web 3 startups. Before then, Amaan served as the interim-Finance Director of Omnio, the digital banking fintech business. Early international experience included joining the Japanese electronics firm JVC Kenwood as a Finance Manager before being promoted to Head of Finance in 2012. He then went onto real estate business Asia Pacific Investment Partners as VP for Finance and Accounting, before joining the Japanese MBO Fund Asia Growth Capital as their COO and CFO.

Trevor Gabriel - Independent Director, GlobalBlock Digital Asset Trading Limited: 

Mr. Gabriel has been a director of Global Block Digital Asset Trading (formerly Helix Applications Inc.) since February 2019. Mr. Gabriel is qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London and spent 12 years in financial and general management roles with Jardine Matheson in South East Asia before returning to Europe in 1985. He subsequently ran a privately owned oil company based in the United Kingdom and had concessions in Gabon and a distribution infrastructure in several West African countries. In the past 10 years Mr. Gabriel has had non-executive director roles with Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. (where he also chaired the audit committee) and is currently very involved in a privately owned hi-tech sector start-up in the energy storage and hi-torque electric motors.

Stuart Olley - Independent Director GlobalBlock Digital Asset Trading Limited:

Stuart is a senior partner with the law firm Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP practicing in the Capital Markets, M&A and Private Equity groups in Calgary. Stuart is a past member of the Securities Advisory Council of the Alberta Securities Commission. He holds a master's degree in law from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University (securities speciality), a LLB and MBA from the University of Alberta, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Toronto.  Stuart has been consistently identified by Canadian Legal expert directory as a leading Canadian lawyer in the corporate mid-market sector and by Best Lawyers as one of Canada’s leading lawyers in Securities Law and Mining Law.  Stuart has advised and served on the board of directors of various public companies and has extensive experience in corporate governance, public company finance and mergers and acquisitions.

Tim Bullman - GlobalBlock Ltd - Head of Sales & Trading:

Tim Bullman founded institutional agency broker Mint Partners in 2005 and in his role as CEO guided it from a start up to revenues of over $100 million per annum and offices in London, New York, Paris and Dubai. His previous roles included Head of Sovereign Debt at ICAP, MD Europe at Investor Select Advisors fund of hedge fund group and Senior Managing Director at BGC Partners. Mr. Bullman’s roles and duties include identifying opportunities, financial control and oversight of institutional brokerage. Tim will also assume responsibility for accurate reporting of the management accounts alongside the evaluation and identification of areas of opportunity.

Karl Thompson - GlobalBlock Ltd - Partnership & IT: 

In 2012 Karl co-founded Peregrine & Black Capital with Patrick Bullman. A fully FCA regulated broker offering bespoke stockbroking services to institutional clients. Karl went on to co-found Peregrine & Black Investment management in 2015 offering Discretionary Investment Management services to individuals, corporates, trusts and charities In 2017 he and Patrick set up the financial advice side of business, P&B Wealth. The Peregrine & Black group has offices in London and Bermuda and correspondingly regulated by the FCA and the BMA. Mr. Thompson’s roles and duties include responsibility for IT procurement, partnerships and institutional brokerage. This involves positioning the company for revenue growth with relevant key hires (CTO, IT Director) and managing the partnerships sales team, identifying strategic opportunities in the institutional market. 

Patrick Bullman - GlobalBlock Ltd - MLRO: 

In 2012 Patrick co-founded Peregrine & Black Capital with Karl Thompson. Patrick went on to co-found Peregrine & Black Investment management in 2015 offering Discretionary Investment Management services to individuals, corporates, trusts and charities In 2017 he and Karl set up the financial advice side of business, P&B Wealth. The Peregrine & Black group has offices in London and Bermuda and correspondingly regulated by the FCA and the BMA. Mr. Bullman’s roles and duties include responsibility for all compliance and regulatory issues pertaining to the business.
